Dear Marla
A masochist is someone who somehow 'enjoys' pain or discomfort.
Let me clear about this. I'm not into the 'pain' part. At least I don't think I am. I'm 65 years old and have have always avoided pain.
I think I can safely say that any sort of 'blood sport' sadism such as (real) whips, needles, or other 'traditional' activites which cause blood or serious marks are clearly out of the question. That's a hard NO.
Other, less obvious types of pain, such as those associated with bondage types of activities, such as rope marks, some joint or mucscle discomfort from restraint or tight garments are a bit different. I don't like or want them, but when they are a necessary evil to some activity that I _do_ enjoy doing, then this kind of pain is both justifyable and tolerable.
I'm not saying I like or want the lighter pain, as well.
I am saying I _may_ be able to tolerate it IF it is a necessary part of something I otherwise like to do.
Sleeping in a latex mummy sack is an amazing, ongoing experience. Hevea wants me to sleep in one every night. They feel wonderful for the first few hours, but then, after a while, various bone joints and muscles will begin to complain of the restriction, etc. There may also be a problem with sweat and urine build-up. If you can sleep the night without peeing, that's a plus. The ratio of comfort to discomfort gradually swings from the former to the latter. Things begin to become a bit uncomfortable and messy after a while. To clarify, I don't like stewing in my own urine, but if it comes with the job, I can tolerate it for a little while. It's not a big deal."
When I mentioned the problems with the sleepsack, of course he immediately went to his 'engineering mode' and began to look for ways to eliminate them. One possible solution would be to mount a drainage tube at the bottom and put some blocks under the legs of the head of the bed to tip it just enough so the pee and sweat will drain.
I found that, generally speaking, as I have become older, I sweat less. I can sleep in a catsuit all night long and hardly work up a sweat. When I was much younger, sweat was often a problematic issue. I seem to sweat less as I get older. I have no idea why that might be. I may be wrong. It just seems that way.
